While he does make some points,his basic thesis is flawed. Cities DID build up around farms because the production of food (farming) is what made man progress from traveling bands of hunter/gatherers to city dwellers. The cities developed along easy trade routes,mostly where rivers flowed. The obvious reason for this was to ship excess to needs farm production to areas away from the city,and to import things needed or desired from other locations.

It is also obvious he has never been on a car trip through America's midwest,where there are farm fields that literally run from horizon to horizon,and not a city in sight for 50 miles or more.

The reason rural people have generally moved to cities is because advances in farming have led to fewer farm jobs,and cities are where the jobs are for people that want steady work instead of seasonal work.

Add to that the fact that in modern America the "professionally poor" move from one city to another,depending on which city will pay them the most to live there.

The results have been union workers and multi-generational welfare families,and you can always count on both to vote Dim because the Dims promise them anything they want in exchange for their votes. I have no doubt there are still blue-collar neighborhoods in the north and the far west where you will get beat up if you go into them and admit to being a Republican. There are also welfare neighborhoods all over the country where you might even be killed if you were to admit you were a Republican.

This will all be changing soon,though. I don't know the final results of the changes,but I do know the Industrial Age is in it's death throes,and all those highly-paid union jobs where you get upper-middle class wages for doing the minimum amount of work you have to do,and the welfare ghetto neighborhoods are soon to be a thing of the past thanks to modern technology.

Manufacturing is dead. Period. With the advent of 3-D Printing,it will be buried within another 20 years. Even the 3rd world won't need large industrial centers with masses of workers and supply centers. Which will leave only the parasites living there with no tax base to provide them with a living. They will be reduced to eating each other because none of them even understand the concept of working,and they have been raised for generations now to think they world owes them a living and will provide it for them.

With modern transportation systems and the instant communications available today,there is no longer any real need for a wholesale or retail supply business to be in a big city along a waterway,or even anywhere near a big city. I have bought large heavy items from Amazon that were shipped coast to coast and delivered to my door in just 3 days.

Which is another death knell for large cities because businesses taxes and fees are an enormous part of what keeps cities alive.

The people with ambition will soon be free to live anydamnplace they want to live,and won't be dependent on a city for the goods and services cities have always traditionally supplied. I do think these people need to form together and establish themselves in or real close to smaller cities so they can protect each other,though. Make no mistake about it,when the welfare system dies and every major city in America looks like Detroit,it's going to get ugly out there for a few years. The only laws that exist out of any town or city will be the laws you can enforce yourselves,and you had better be well-armed and ready to shoot if you hope to survive. I don't think this will last very long,but it's going to brutal while it lasts.

It may even result in the end of America as a nation,as well as the end of other nations as we know them now. I have no idea what will replace them or what new form they will come to exist in,but anarchy always has a short shelf life because there is always somebody ready to stand up and say "I am in charge,and THIS is how we will do things!" who has the ability and the will to enforce his views.

Until then,if you aren't a tech guy,learn how to become a good mechanical of some sort,or educate yourself to get into the security business because those are where the big money will be in the not-so-distant future.

It not only doesn't matter,it even advances what I said would happen because it will make the balance tip over even earlier as fewer and fewer non-government workers will be working and paying the taxes to pay the wages of the government workers.

It doesn't matter what they want. You can only pluck the Golden Goose so often before she is naked and dies from exposure.

As I have said before,just look at the conditions that caused the collapse of Rome,and you will see those exact conditions at work right here in the US today. The balance has tipped too far to the left to recover at this point,and will correct itself in the only way possible,violence and starvation.

Even if you could find a way to feed all the professionally hungry people and the out of work people,it will change nothing. What happens to men that don't have jobs and have nothing to do with themselves every day but sit around and get bored? All you have to do is look at Ghetto Life today,and the answer is right there. They dream up ways to commit crimes and get into trouble. This can not be allowed to continue to exist,and it won't be allowed. There will be population adjustments one way or the other.
