Once upon a time half the residents of the Philadelphia area read the Sunday Inquirer albeit today once suspects that half may not even know the publication exists.
For those that remember its relevance, former Inky reporter Ralph Cipriano is doing yeoman’s work at BigTrail.net coverng the saga among the battling Democrats who own the publication regarding the firing of editor Bill Marimow.
ZitatI sent Bill an email telling him what I knew. Then I took a few shots at his City Hall bureau.
"Bill, where do you find these guys who cover City Hall for you?" I wrote. "Their copy reads like it came out of the mayor's press office. Your AVI coverage is an embarassment. Are your guys on the take?"
As always, Bill was polite.
"Good morning Ralph," he replied. "If you would ever like to talk about his subject or any others in person like the former colleagues that we are, you're welcome to stop by. I've always tried to treat you fairly, and I'll continue to do so. Period."
"As to whether our reporters are 'on the take,' that -- as you well know -- is, to put it politely, untrue."
Oh, well there you have it, a polite lie has to be true
"Tidbits include that the rage aimed at Marimow is based on a claim that he leaked a plan to cut the paper’s editorial pages by 50 percent and the paper has lost 24 percent of our readers in the last year."
To be fair, this is Philly, and probably more than 24 percent of the population can't even read,so why would they need to know about a newspaper when dey gets all dey newz frum dey teebees? Widescreen, bitches!
Why is democracy held in such high esteem when it’s the enemy of the minority and makes all rights relative to the dictates of the majority? (Ron Paul,2012)
