The suspension of “Duck Dynasty” star Phil Robertson by the A&E Network after making controversial remarks in GQ magazine regarding homosexuality has been called a business decision. But now Douglas County Sheriff Phil Miller is making a business decision of his own.
Miller announced on his personal Facebook page Friday night that A&E would no longer be welcomed to film or produce any of its programs or series with the help of the Douglas County Sheriff's Office or its facilities.
"Rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. I do not add 'within the limits of the law' because law is often but the tyrant's will, and always so when it violates the rights of the individual." Thomas Jefferson
"If people can’t trust not only the executive branch but also don’t trust Congress, and don’t trust federal judges, to make sure that we’re abiding by the Constitution with due process and rule of law, then we’re going to have some problems here." - Barack Obama, June 7, 2013
Since when does the local sheriff own the law and get to decide who he will help and who he won't help?
First off,he and his deputies are paid by the taxpayers, and they shouldn't be spending ANY of their time helping a for profit business increase their wealth on the taxpayer's dime. IF they have the manpower AND the time there is nothing wrong with them helping any legal business as long as they are paying for the manpower and equipment hours being used up.
AND....,he doesn't get to pick and choose which business he is willing to help. You either help all of them that are willing to pay,or you help none of them.
Why is democracy held in such high esteem when it’s the enemy of the minority and makes all rights relative to the dictates of the majority? (Ron Paul,2012)
