A California judge on Monday set aside a 124-year prison sentence given to an heir to the Max Factor fortune who was convicted of drugging and raping three women.
Andrew Luster was granted a new sentencing hearing because the trial judge "failed to state specific reasons for imposing full consecutive sentences" as required by law, Ventura County Superior Court Judge Kathryne Ann Stoltz said in a 31-page ruling.

Something like this happened once in my county. TheFeds sent a defendant convicted of murder back for a re-sentence because the judge failed to consider him for youthful offender treatment on [he was less than 19 when he committed the murder]. So he waltzes in, the judge looks at him, says "Youthful Offender denied", and re-sentenced him to the same time. Took two minutes. Betcha Mr. Luster gets the same result, but that it takes longer.
