If you are an active Groupon member take this info under consideration. No, not that this CEO is an incompetent but who he supports politically.
CNBC named embattled Groupon chief executive officer Andrew Mason the worst CEO of 2012 Tuesday.
Groupon’s value has declined sharply this year, while questions about Mason’s leadership have plagued the company’s co-founder. The company’s shares actually fell in late November after its board disclosed that Mason would not be removed from his position.
Despite the business troubles, Mason found time to donate $5,000 to President Barack Obama’s reelection campaign as well as $30,800 to the Democratic National Committee, the maximum total donation allowed in one year.
Hmmm, is there a connection between being an Obama supporter and a lousy CEO? Seems reasonable.
CNBC has named Zynga chief executive officer Mark Pincus the fourth worst CEO of 2012.
The network’s Herb Greenberg noted many thought Pincus should top the rankings, calling the year for the online gaming company “nothing short of a disaster” with “no strong strategy” apparent and defections of key personnel.
Pincus notably donated $1 million this fall to the Obama-affiliated Super PAC Priorities USA — best known for suggesting Mitt Romney may have been responsible for a woman’s death.
His company, btw, is behind Farmville and Words with Friends.
