(CNN) – The U.S. Senate voted Thursday to overcome a Republican-led filibuster against tougher gun laws, clearing the way for a major debate on a package of proposals sought by President Barack Obama in the aftermath of the Connecticut school massacre.
Update:
Via Roll Call:
[S]ome of the Republicans who voted against the filibuster are Sens. Lamar Alexander of Tennessee, Kelly Ayotte of New Hampshire, Richard M. Burr of North Carolina, Tom Coburn of Oklahoma, Susan Collins of Maine, John McCain of Arizona, Jeff Flake of Arizona, Johnny Isakson and Saxby Chambliss of Georgia, Roger Wicker of Mississippi and Lindsey Graham of South Carolina.
Democrats voting for the filibuster included Sens. Mark Begich of Alaska and Mark Pryor of Arkansas.
Update II: Obama’s already gloating even though the bill still has a long way to go.
This is not about reducing gun violence. This is about restricting the rights of the governed.
Thank you for posting this, Eglman. This is most helpful. I now know to vote against Senator Isakson in his next election.
Orthodoxy SUCKS.
"Rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. I do not add 'within the limits of the law' because law is often but the tyrant's will, and always so when it violates the rights of the individual." Thomas Jefferson
They couldn't support their side even in this. I really hope conservatives finally vote them out next time. But too many only listen to sound bites when voting

Did that jerk not say he was not running, probably promised an ambassador ship or something.
Chambliss is not running again. His Gang of Six antics greatly harmed his chances of re-election and he knows it.

If you add them all together they have less brains than a skunk. The question is, is toomey into little girls or little boys.
I am not a republican I am a conservative, and supporter of the rule of law. And refuse to support any of Roves dopes.
I don't do facebook, but if you do and want to see the reaction to this vote... check out Tom Coburn's facebook page.
The people are voicing their displeasure with the honorable gentleman from Oklahoma.
