Judicial Watch has obtained documents from the Department of Justice showing that Beyonce and Jay-Z may have violated terms of the travel agreement under which they visited Cuba from March 31 to April 8, 2013.

According to the documents from the Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), there was not authorization for "activities that are primarily tourist-oriented, including self-directed activities that are intended only for personal enrichment." The trip was authorized as one to be used for "a full-time schedule of educational exchange activities."

Regardless, the couple allegedly took part in "self-directed" and "tourist-oriented" activities that had nothing to do with "educational activities." Moreover, they reportedly spent "millions of dollars [on] luxurious accommodations for their entourage of family, friends, and security."

Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) has responded to the news by referring to Beyonce and Jay-Z as "hypocritical." Reps. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL) and Mario Diaz-Balart (R-FL) have requested additional information on the process OFAC undertakes in approving trips to Cuba.

Judicial Watch president Tom Fitton explained: "No one should exempt from the law, regardless of how much money or fame they have. The Obama administration obviously isn't serious about enforcing the legal restrictions on travel to communist-controlled Cuba."
