"I expect stand up blacks to correct their crazies so that forces me to do the same. The first time i discovered tarentino was in the park when i had to scrape him off my shoe. Damn, i would like Michael Moore more if they were standing together. At least he has a point.
A small excerpt from a review of the film that appeared in the Boston Globe.
Samuel L. Jackson plays crusty, waxen Stephen as a vision of depraved loyalty and bombastic jive that cuts right past the obvious association with Uncle Tom. The movie is too modern for what Jackson is doing to be limited to 1853. He’s conjuring the house Negro, yes, but playing him as though he were Clarence Thomas or Alan Keyes or Herman Cain or Michael Steele, men whom some black people find embarrassing.
I don't understand why everyone is bent out of shape about this movie. Hasn't anyone seen what Hollywood is pumping out lately? Total garbage yet everyone is running around in a panic because the N word is used. Who cares. There is so much to be upset about, another crappy Tarentino remake isn't one of them in my book. Hell, his movies generally bomb anyway except for a very few exceptions. Personally, I plan on going to see this thing because I like grind house schlock.
