As the political class begins the task of winning over low information voters in support of using military force in Syria, there are few voices of reason to be found.

One such voice, Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, said Tuesday that it would be a mistake for the United States military to “serve as al Qaida’s air force.”

As Sen. John McCain advocated for war on “The O’Reilly Factor” Tuesday, telling America, with a straight face, that the rebels in Syrian are “moderate,” Cruz countered on Blaze TV:

“Of the nine major rebel groups that are fighting right now, at least seven of them appear to have some significant tie to al Qaida.”

Perhaps a little too much truth for those eager to march America off to war yet again.

“We certainly don’t have a dog in the fight, this is a war between Sunnis and Shiites in the Middle East,” Cruz said. “We’re not gonna resolve the tensions over there and the last thing we ought to be doing is sending our sons and daughters into harm’s way to get in the middle of this sectarian civil war.”
