update--The U.S. Navy says three shots were fired at 8:20 a.m. Monday at Naval Sea Systems Command Headquarters Building 197 and D.C. police say at least two people have been shot.
The Navy Yard is on lockdown and a “shelter in place” order has been issued, the Navy says. About 3,000 people work in the building, the Navy says.

Yup.
Sometimes we forget that fear is a very powerful emotion. It over rides rational, logical, analytic thought and replaces it with raw primitive emotional responses.
FLASHBACK: “Ayman al-Zawahiri Calls On His Followers To Strike Inside US”

Even though the DC Navy shootings are only hours old, thankfully the government has already miraculously determined that this is an “isolated incident”. But, just in case more “isolated incidents” begin to unfold across the country, it’s worth reminding everyone that on September 13, 2013 Muslim Brotherhood member and al-Qaida founder, Ayman al Zawahiri called for renewed attacks on American soil.

The leader of al-Qaeda has urged his followers to strike inside the US to “bleed America economically”, adding that the United States can be defeated by targeting its economy, according to a message posted on a website frequently used by the group.
“We should bleed America economically by provoking it to continue in its massive expenditure on its security, for the weak point of America is its economy, which has already begun to stagger due to the military and security expenditure,” al-Zawahiri, the successor to Osama bin Laden, said.
Keeping America in such a state of tension and anticipation only required a few disparate attacks “here and there”, he said.
In the video above, CBS News discusses al-Zawahiri’s specific call for lone-wolf, or “isolated incident” attacks.

Zawahiri said. “Keeping America on its guards only requires from us scattered strikes here and there.”
Are the shootings at the Navy yard an answer to the call of Zawahiri?
Reminder: the Boston Marathon bombing was an “isolated incident” and an act of Jihad.
