That wasn't due to a super committee. The sequester was a poison pill that Zero insisted on to force the GOP to capitulate later down the road. It is pure luck....

It is pure luck that the Regime wasn't able to exploit that to any advantage. Also if you recall from that deal the GOP agreed to RAISE TAXES for the first time I can ever remember. That was swell.
I hate to say it but you have to give and take sometimes. Both sides hated that bill, if I remember. Frankly I was glad to just be done with whole charade.
Until we get a veto-proof majority, we don't have a choice but to compromise, right?

BS if both sides hated the bill it would not have passed--not buying that
This not Mob rule--Mobocracy--and you don't have to compromise your values and principles--lossers compromise

Well without enough Republican votes, what could we have done?
Quote: Justme wrote in post #5So the return of the super committee is a scare tactic? they work every time?
I know I'll get flamed for this but I have no problem with the super-committee.
No flames bro... But it's always a better idea to stick with what is Constitutional; these things ain't.
*shrug*
Since when has that mattered?
Well there you have it... A very large contributor to why things are, the way they are, now...
You are correct in that it no longer matters at all now; that is why it will never be "fixed."
We often point to going off the rails exactly 100 years ago in 1913, but the truth of the matter is that Congress started spending the People's money with no Constitutional authority roughly 30 years after it was adopted and ratified. They've never really looked back since that time....
