I’m not an Alex Jones fan. Mainly because my first exposure to him was this video as he tries to smear and bully Michelle Malkin. Also I must admit that I loved it when Glenn Beck and crew burned him hard.

But he was on with Piers Morgan tonight raging against him and his gun control fetish. He apparently threatened 1776 all over again if the government comes for our guns.

Honestly, I only watched the 1776 portion and got the distinct feeling that Jones was playing up the drama in the interview for his own selfish gain and popularity. But I figure some of you might want to watch it so here’s the full interview:

Alex Jones looks like a fool. If he used reason and calm language his message would go further. I think he loves the notoriety and attention and did this for self-promotion. He didn't handle the interview well at all. No one would want to march on Washington with him at the front carrying the banner.

I happened to see this last night. Jones was on the edge of coming off as a lunatic instead of just a passionate guy. Morgan was an ass.

I read that like 50% of France believes that the US government perpetrated 9/11 (2007-ish or so), so Europeans should love Alex Jones.

Most assuredly Jones was overly obstreperous but apparently I sympathize with him more than some others. As he said most people have never heard the facts about crime and gun use he was presenting but the opinions of people like Morgan are broadcast day in and day out, sometimes subtly, sometimes not so subtly.

I just wish Jones had pointed out even more strongly that violent crime in Britian is far higher than in the US and stabbings have become such a problem there are calls to ban certain kinds of "kitchen knives" in that country. Morgan should have been called upon to explain that.

As to 9/11: a red herring, completely off topic, brought up to make Jones look like a fool (which he did). Jones should have merely dismissed the issue as not germane to the reason he was on the show.

Jones gives gun-owners a bad name with his unhinged reactions.

By the oddest of coincidences Drudge's top story for today is about the Jones/Morgan confrontation:

Exclusive: Piers Morgan on Alex Jones is a sympathetic (to Morgan), one-sided piece today on Politico. Naturally Morgan states Jones is the best advertisement for gun control you could wish for...That kind of vitriol, hatred, and zealotry is really quite scary. I didn't feel threatened by him, but I'm concerned that someone like him has that level of influence," Morgan said. "There's got to be a level of discourse that can rise above what happened last night. It was undignified, unedifying."

I should say at this point I have no real idea who Jones is beyond having read some linked articles from his websites. But Jones doesn't frighten me as much as Morgan since if his views are adopted we all may be unable to defend ourselves in an increasingly dangerous world.

There was one other thing Morgan said that caught my eye: In defending his right to voice his opinions, he said,There is a pattern of British people who espouse peace or want more peace being gagged in this country," he said, citing John Lennon and Charlie Chaplin. Quite right, Piers, pick as your role models a strung out, narcissistic druggie and a millionaire Communist pedophile. Good choices, there, dude. Besides why don't you Brits go home and tell your own people how they ought to live? Why are you over here sponging off us and invoking our 1st Amendment that we fought you guys to have?

Morgan had Jones on his show because he had listened to enough of Jones to know that he wouldn't have to provide a lot of rope for Jones to hang himself with.

Jones is a tinfoil hat wearing attention whore. Why exactly did this moron go on a show on a channel he hates with a personality he hates if he wasn't more enamored with himself being seen than with his so called whacked out ideals.

Morgan was not stupid by any means. He knew what he was doing when he invited Jones on his show. Morgan gave Jones the biggest microphone he had ever had. Jones ran with it. Those with working brains ignore him, but he has an air of legitimacy as a member of "the right" because Morgan gave it to him.
