Witness FreakRepublic.
Your second prong is off. Just going by the fact that Conservatives went to the polls and voted for Romney while the RINOS sat at home shows you that there is no purity test with us. The problem is with the establishment. When push comes to shove, we back our guy and try and get him over the finish line. RINOS don't really see a problem with Zero, hence the lackluster performance from Boner in the House over any dealings with him. He genuinely doesn't find what Zero is doing damaging in the least.
Your example of FR's calls for Reagans corpse to run for POTUS as somehow meaningful is a dud. It equals anecdotal evidence. By and large, the Conservatives were on board with Romney.
