In what seems like a surprise move, the White House working group on gun control is considering expanding federal funding for cops in schools.
It was the NRA's Wayne LaPierre who, a week after the shooting in Newtown, recommended placing armed police officers in every school in America. ------ The White House has found that even many Democrats support the idea of cops in schools. Senator Barbara Boxer told the Post, "If a school district wants to have a community policing presence, I think it’s very important they have it." Ninety percent of large, urban high schools already have SROs on duty; however, the majority of schools, especially at the elementary level, have no security at all. ------ http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/...Cops-in-Schools
Whitehouse trying to get ahead of the game, there is no reason to fund cops in schools, either let volunteers become unpaid deputies or use existing cops. If the local police have man power to chase speeders and hookers, they have the man power to put cops in the parking lots of school, they can chase hookers and speeders at knight on on the weekend. Seems they have plenty of cops around sporting events.

LaPierre was very wrong to recommend federal funding.
I can see it now. The TSA will develop a special arm for education. In order to get an education, children will have a choice of being irradiated or molested. Private schools and home schools will be declared a danger to the welfare of children if they don't provide TSA approved armed guards.

Right! Anything run by the federal government is a big bureaucratic mess!

And, outside the scope of powers granted to them by the Constitution, and contributes to the metastatic growth of the federal government.

Here are LaPierre's exact words:
"I call on Congress today to act immediately, to appropriate whatever is necessary to put armed police officers in every school — and to do it now, to make sure that blanket of safety is in place when our children return to school in January."

You need to ask your self how many years of guarding schools could have been provided by the money holder and the ATF spent on illegal gun sells to mexico. Take the money out of ATF's budget, they are just peeing it away.
