Ah, the beauty of ADA, the poster child for good intentions run amok. When Sen. Dole got it passed, it created a bureaucracy to administer it, and Dole forgot the first law of bureaucracy: Exist and expand.

They did the latter by expanding disabilities to include such things as drug addiction [good for SSI], obesity, alcoholism and a bunch of looney toons other 'disabilitites'. They also created a cottage industry in regulations, court cases, etc. My favorites: the School District Prez pulled over for DUI, who was wearing his wife's clothes at the time. The School District had to buy him out, because his claimed alcoholism was a recognized disability. Or the druggie out west who used his SSI to buy drugs, which he sold at a profit, giving him more cash than SSI, plus his own drugs. Or, an overly obese woman who wanted to be a nurse's aide, who sued when a hospital refused to hire her, because she couldn't fit between the beds.. Or finally, the High School girl who sued because she was denied an opportunity to make the cheerleader squad [she failed the jumping portion of the tryout- the first part of the test-three times. She was a quadrepalegic.
Lawsuits like this teacher's should be laughed out of any rational court in any sane country in the world, which, alas, is not this country.
