I think they mean you. Me. Anyone who will not be bullied any longer, but will quietly and simple do what needs to be done to protect our rights.

That was the beginning of the First Cyber War.

At first it was thought to just be a Trojan that was making it's way around the internet, but it was a systematic attack at the online commercial ventures of a lot of American companies.

Numerous American websites were attacked by Chinese Government sponsored computer hacks.
A nationwide group of hackers retaliated in kind. There was even a contest on how many Chinese sites could be hacked in a day.
The end result, is the Chinese hackers quit after their own base of operations was put out of commission for a week from the American efforts.

You didn't hear anything about this because the media was totally clueless in what was going on and hacking was in it's infancy as a form or terrorism.
I suspect some of the same group is part of Anonymous.

There was a thread a long time back on FR about the Occupy Movement. In the thread they were talking about how the police responded at a campus protest in California. People were talking back and forth. I kind of agreed with the idea that the students wouldn't have had to worry about the police and their response if they hadn't shown up at the protest.

One Freeper said that what we find acceptable in one police situation can later be turned around and used against us. We'll never see it coming. This is because in the first instance we think, "They deserved it." But in the second when we ourselves face the same tactics we will see it differently.

At the time I didn't fully understand what the Freeper meant. I believe in the idea of "You do the crime, you pay the time." Most people know before going into protest actions or criminal activity that if they get caught, they are going to have to pay for it. Like with our driving laws. If you knowingly make an illegal left turn, but do so for your own convenience without regard to the law, you cannot blame the police officer for pulling you over for the ticket.

But we know, like Ayn Rand said, that the more laws they make, the more criminals there will be. The government can pick and choose which people it pursues for prosecution and which it does not. The elite will be free but the citizens will not.

As time goes on I see that I have more in common with this group or that group than I believed even a year ago. A year ago I would have ignored Anonymous completely. Now they have my attention.

I was given a lot of grief because I saw interviews with the very first participants in Occupy. They had a point. They had done what their adults told them, got in debt to get a degree, to be able to do better in life, and once they graduated they were no jobs!

One could get distracted debating the quality of college and education in general today, who and how many ought to attend college etc, how realistic the kids expectations were, but these kids had done what the adults in their lives recommended, and were now stuck with massive debt, living at home or couch surfing, etc.

Then, rapidly the movement got infiltrated by communists, anarchists, etc. It' like they have created a series of templates of talking points, and have people on the ready to infiltrate any protest, even print up t-shirts, and turn the movement ugly and violent.

This in turn spurs a reaction on the right that drives apart people who actually have the potential to be allies against the collectivists.

Anon means that sooner or later they will take something down and hack it. One thing to note other Anon messages end with the above AND "We are legion." They have been widely critized for that line. Did they change their form or is this a false flag is the question.

I went a did a bit of digging after seeing this video... There is no THEY, As defined by Anonymous, ALL of us are Anonymous. You and I can make a video on any topic we choose and bill it as from Anonymous. The idea we present is either accepted or rejected by others. If accepted it is passed on and others join the cause. Interesting concept but without a leader(s) to control the mix you can really end up with great ideas lost in a sea of foolishness.

True. That said if the key people in Anon don't like it you will be hacked and killed on line. It has happened several times. The "distributed" management of Anon has made it very hard for governments to track them down and punish them I have followed Anon for aobut 7 years. I used to own a cybersecurity company and they were our main problem.
There have been several high profile arrests of "members" of Anon. The most recent:

Several arrests earlier last year. Anon is notorious for feeding little fish to the government. They get yutes with some hacking skills to attack for example Pentagon computers. The yutes get arrested and Anon learns what the weaknesses are. Remember during OWS there was a cyber attack on the NYSE? Well actually the were three signficant attacks. One was brief and only a probe. It happened in the early am. The second was more determined and took the NYSE off line for about three minutes. The third was near the end of the day and took the NYSE down hard for forty minutes. The third was the work of very skilled hackers. Probably some of the best in the world with access to very good resources. BTW you will find very little on these attacks in the MSM, it was hushed up. Obscure IT journals covered the true story. The FBI has come to believe that Anon is the work of some other government and a cyber war tool. I am still open on who is really behind Anon. There are a force to be concerned about if you have cyber info you are trying to protect. Like the video says whoever it is is very patient and can be very persistent.

Trust me on this. I used to have guys working for me that could easily take down about any system in the world simply to prove they could do it. They consider banks child's play. Banks are considered by the cyber security world to be very hard to hack. They make very good money and stay on the "good" side of the line. BTW the IT nerd down the hall eating cheetos and sucking on a diet coke these guys aren't. They go to the gym and dress ncie and drive nice cars. They are true professionals.

In the coming war we may well find ourselves aligned with Anon. Sad but these are the days we live in.
