On this 40th anniversary of the landmark Supreme Court decision in Roe v. Wade, the Center For Reproductive Rights has released a YouTube video featuring actor Mehcad Brooks of the USA Network’s “Necessary Roughness” and HBO’s “True Blood”.
Aside from creepy nature of speaking to the Court decision as if it is an actual person, the basic theme, and overall attitude, of the video is one that expresses a profound, unwavering support of the decision by saying “An anniversary like this is not something you forget, no no no no baby, it is something that you fight for. That’s exactly what I’m going to do, baby. Fight. A few of us – well, actually, a couple hundred thousand of us have chipped in to get you something mighty special, baby. We’re gonna be standing by your side today, tomorrow, and the years to come.”
Anyone else find it odd that they used a black man, who are generally notorious for having unwanted fatherless children to the point they were going to do a reality show about it, to make this vid? One could easily think that this dude was so in love with R v W because it solves all sorts of baby daddy hassles.
