He was easily one of the best Mayors of NYC, a close second to Rudy. If all Rat Pols were as honest and genuine as this guy, the country would be a better place today. RIP.
I guess we will never know now if he was gay or not. I always thought Bess Myerson was a beard.
I dont know if he was one of the best, but he always seemed caring. And to answer his question, to me, it seemed he was doin' fine. Oh..and he didnt turn my stomach like this 3 term Nazi. I cant wait for him to get out of there, I cant stand the sight of him.
Ditto . . . It was all over the news this morning. Emphasized was the sorry state of NYC when he was elected, his honesty, his sense of humor, and his ability elicit and take criticism.
Honesty. I pray that one day NYC will have a new mayor that deals with the people honestly and with respect.

He was no LaGuardia, but looking at where the city was at after Lindsay and Beame trashed the place, Koch did at least stabilize, if not make the place a little better. Then that piece of garbage Dinkins totally made the place a train wreck.
BTW, most people only credit Rudy for his 911 performance, but if anyone remembers the absolute mess the city was in when he took over and all of the resistance he got on issues as little as the "squeegy bums", he is undersold constantly for being probably the best Mayor the city ever saw.
