BOSTON (AP) — Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick has declared a state of emergency for blizzard that could bring near 3 feet of snow.
Patrick signed an executive order banning all vehicles from roadways starting at 4 p.m. today. Ban applies to all roadways, including highways and secondary roads. Any one caught driving after 4 p.m. faces up to one year in jail and $500 fine.

Well that is the price paid because the government believes you are to stupid to make your own choices so they will sure that the chains are tight and if a fine does not do it then they have to put you behind bars--for your own safety of course

I pity the people who live in Massachusetts.
Orthodoxy SUCKS.

You're right, of course.
The people of MA obviously tolerate the absurd in voting for legislatures who take every bit of their freedom away.

It is Mass we are talking about here. They are possibly that stupid. Look at who they keep electing. Now on another note, in a declared state of emergency there should be higher fines for people who don't heed the warnings. When they fail to stay off the roads during these times they are putting others at risk when the first responders have to be called out to rescue them because they are stuck in a dangerous situation. Their stupidity can be dangerous.

Patrick said the blizzard is “a profoundly different kind of storm than we have dealt with” and the projected snowfall rate of two to three inches per hour will “make safe travel nearly impossible.”
Has the Royal Governor taken into account that hospitals still need Dr's and nurses to show up for work even if it snows? Are they planning to send them all to jail?
