I think this should be taken seriously by everyone who cares about the future.

The whole article is worth reading and has plenty of sobering paragraphs.

I realize a lot can be bluster and for local consumption or to take locals minds off systemic corruption etc.

However, at some point, they will feel a huge loss of face if they fail to back up their bluster with actions.

imho, They are charting a course that is FAR FROM PEACEFUL.

I've asked my Mainland friend now in the USA to comment on the article. I'll let you know his response. He tends to downplay such as bluster for local consumption. I asked him if the tone of this article was any different from other such articles in the past. Will see what he thinks.

I can't imagine China would want to ruin their image as a stable place of doing business, but then again, I could be wrong.

China has a hard on for Japan right now. If China makes inroads to taking back control of Taiwan or subordinating Japan to their will, I will think this is possible. Right now, China isn't impressing me too much with their military prowess. Remember, the US has been at war now for 10 years. In that time, we have developed nes techs and techniques that the Chinx can only dream about today. They can barely manufacture a reliable car of their own right now.

The United States would be well advised to stay out of any one on one dispute China has with Japan and focus on issues that affect the whole region.
