WHEN a Vesuvius like John McCain tells you that you belch too much smoke and spew too much fire, you know you’ve got a problem.

And Ted Cruz, a Republican freshman in the Senate who has been front and center in his party’s effort to squash Chuck Hagel’s nomination as secretary of defense, has a problem. He’s an ornery, swaggering piece of work. Just six weeks since his arrival on Capitol Hill, he’s already known for his naysaying, his nit-picking and his itch to upbraid lawmakers who are vastly senior to him, who have sacrificed more than he has and who deserve a measure of respect, or at least an iota of courtesy. Courtesy isn’t Cruz’s métier. Grandstanding and browbeating are.

I think Cruz scares the heck out of them. And, not just the dims. Entrenched Rs too.

Oh my. The NYT food critic is upset at Cruz. Looks like Ted will never get reelected in TX again.

What a pos, this writer is, what in the hell has these senator prima donna's sacrificed , not a damn thing is the answer, senate and congress are both underworked and over paid and they live like royalty. Cruz, needs to kick ass and take names. We should pay them for six months out of the year and send them home, subject to recall in four hours. This is no longer a horse and buggy country.

OR, Alinsky's Rule # 13: “Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it."

We can continue to bitch about it year in and year out, or we can come up with strategies to deal with it, because its going to continue. I look for them to start on Ben Carson soon.

Democrat Jan Schakowsky strikes back at Dr. Ben Carson for prayer breakfast speech

It sure didn’t take long for Democrats to strike back at Thursday’s National Prayer Breakfast remarks made by Dr. Benjamin Carson that took a conservative tack and criticized the national debt and current fiscal tax-and-spend policy.

On a CNN on Sunday, Illinois Rep. Jan Schakowsky accused Dr. Carson of hypocrisy, saying he actually used political correctness — which he had denounced in his speech — for his personal gain.

“Well, I think that there’s a political correctness that he was trying to use to appeal to a conservative audience,” she said, on CNN, as reported in Israel Matsav. She also criticized Dr. Carson for making what she described as a “political speech” during a religious event, calling his timing inappropriate — as well as his “invoke[ing] of God as support for that kind of view.”...

Liberals, the mainstream media, and establishment Republicans often reveal which conservatives they fear by their level of disdain and vitriol.

This week, they put their crosshairs on freshman Texas Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), a Tea Party conservative of Hispanic descent who undermines the mainstream media's ability to advance their false notion that being a minority and Tea Partier are mutually exclusive. He is a conservative who showed no desire to defer to the Senate's "courtly" ways, the preferences of the institution's old bulls.

The sinking ship that is the New York Times, the so-called paper of record, provided evidence of what it fears most in its Saturday edition: strong, distinct full-throated conservative voices from folks who ain't "country club," geriatric, and white.

The Washington Post and Politico joined the times in assailing Cruz this week for similar reasons.

The Times did a thorough review of the freshman senator's stunning seven-week run:

leading the charge on the destruction of Chuck Hagel's bona fides as Secretary of Defense;
one of only three Republicans to vote against John Kerry because of his longstanding less-than-vigorous defense of U.S. national security issues;
one of only 34 that voted against raising the debt ceiling;
one of only 22 who voted against the Violence Against Women Act;
one of only 36 who voted against the pork-ladened Hurricane Sandy financial aid package;
one of only 19 who voted against arming the Muslim Brotherhood regime in Cairo;
called out Rahm Emanuel;
confronted Chuck Schumer on national TV;
enraged Senators Boxer and McCaskill enough for them to label him as a "McCarthyite"

The media let Cruz slip pass them and actually get elected before they could Palinize him. John McCain is just jealous. Republican or not, I can't stand the man! Good riddance when he retires.

No matter how poor they are when they arrive in DC, they all leave as multi-millionaires with top notch retirement money and health care! They have screwed us over their entire careers and have no allegiance to our nation and it's best interests.
