The apparently principled opposition of Republicans in the Senate to Chuck Hagel’s nomination as secretary of defense appears to be over.
Via Slate:
Sen. John McCain says that while he doesn’t believe former Sen. Chuck Hagel is the right man to lead the Pentagon, Republican senators will stop using tactics to delay the vote. “No, I don’t believe he’s qualified, but I don’t believe we should hold up his nomination any further,” McCain said on NBC. “I think it’s [been] a reasonable amount of time to have questions answered.”
Even if they’re left unanswered.
In another sign of how Republicans are relenting on their opposition to Hagel, Sen. Lindsey Graham said on Fox News he is willing to accept the former senator’s denials about alleged anti-Israel remarks. “If it’s true, that’s the end of it,” Graham said. Still, Graham defended the delay in confirmation saying Hagel is “one of the most unqualified, radical choices for secretary of defense in a very long time.” But when it comes down to it, “this is the president’s decision,” he added.
You know, in this wild and wacky and turbulent world, it’s somehow comforting to know that (a) the sun always rises in the east, and (b) we can always count on our Republican elected representatives to cave.
The more time passes the more I believe that the people in Washington live in a different world, play by different rules and are planning an end game that they have not invited the citizens of America to participate in.
Orthodoxy SUCKS.
"Rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. I do not add 'within the limits of the law' because law is often but the tyrant's will, and always so when it violates the rights of the individual." Thomas Jefferson
Obama is trying to kill this nomination. The Republicans, wisely, are gonna put this tar baby right in his lap. The Republicans bloodied Hagel sufficiently that now it better serves their political purposes to have the jerk take office. He'll be a disaster. And maybe, just maybe, Obama might get the blame for it.
1. 0bamy will never get blamed for anything. 2. Any nominee that he puts forth will be an enemy of this country by definition. 3. None of the cabinet members (or czars) will do or say anything that is not approved by the regime (primarily VJ for most matters).

I'm with you. Let Hagel in. He is an embarrassment for the Regime. I also don't see the point to tank his nomination now. Does anyone in their right mind believe that Zero will replace Hagel with a solid pro American nominee? Like hell. He will put Bill Ayers or Van Johnson up there just to poke the GOP in the eye. Right now they are stuck with this loser.
Yeah, Obama nominated Hagel to embarrass the Republicans. It will end up being much more embarrassing for Obama. Put this fiasco in the Obama Hubris File. Ultimately, I think it's hubris that will bring him down. With megalomaniacs, it usually is.

There I disagree. Zero nominated this toad because he knew he was as radical as him on foreign policy, but would breeze through the hearings because he was a GOP Senator. You can tell because the Regime was totally stunned and caught without a response when he tanked on the first day of hearings. Zero never expected the GOP Senators to eat one of their own.
