Tuesday night’s NBC News story, “America’s Hopes for a New Pope,” was typical of how the liberal media tried to force the Roman Catholic Church further to the left. The tone of the coverage was that the Catholic Church, in picking a new pope, had to make peace with “diversity”—liberals, feminists and homosexuals demanding state recognition of “gay marriage” in the United States.
With the selection of Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio of Argentina, the liberals have lost out. He opposes abortion, euthanasia, and homosexuality. A Catholic insider tells me, “Looks like we might have ourselves a relatively conservative new pope. He appears to be opposed to liberation theology and doesn’t approach ‘social justice’ from the political end.” The latter means that while he is an advocate of helping the poor, he doesn’t believe this should be done through state socialist schemes.
Liberal and “progressive” websites are already attacking the first Latin American pope as someone who may have a “dark past” and be linked to the Argentine military during the “dirty war” against the communists. The accusations, which have now been picked up by the Associated Press, show the bitterness of the left, as their hopes were dashed of a “Red Pope.”

That is interesting because when he was picked, a few folks were saying he was all in on Liberation Theology. Father Morris on FOX was one. I am glad that this doesn't seem to be right. LT is a dangerous thing and the faster the church snuffs it out the better.

I hope this is an accurate assessment of Francis I. Considering the status of the pope it would be a nice counter to Obama et al.
The fact the MSM is already reporting upon his 'dark past' is a good sign.

Perhaps the biblical exhortation to personal charity was confused with the socialist exhortation for the state to confiscate and redistribute wealth.

Yes, I've heard/seen both. The "supports LT" seemed to be earlier on, and lately I see more "opposes LT." I hope that LT can never take a firm root in the Catholic Church.

I don't think it is just that...
I saw part of Matt Lauer's interview with Cardinal Dolan after Pope Francis I was chosen.
Lauer launched into a series of earnest questions with Dolan... the usual liberal laundry list about homosexuality, women priests, married priests, with a pensiveness in his tone. He was anxious for the Cardinal to agree with him that the Pope needs to be conciliatory to these groups.
Dolan pulled back and talked about how the Pope did not move to the steps and stand above the Cardinals immediately upon his election, but he stood down amongst the Cardinal-electors as they came forward to greet him, congratulate him, bless him and ask him to bless them. He sees himself as a link within his Christian brothers, an active agent of love.
Dolan's words did not pacify Lauer.
Those who want to continually attack the Catholic church, and the entire Christian church, will take any and every opportunity to do so. They will pretend that they are doing this as a way to gain understanding or bridge a gap when in reality their only intent is to drive a wedge between God and man.
Orthodoxy SUCKS.
