I think this is because he doesn't actually work in that room. We all know that the president has his study, and his portable readers and computer, his blackberry, his cellphone. He'll have Oval Office meetings with people for photographers. And he likes to golf. But I don't believe he actually works in that room. And I don't believe he actually works a hell of a lot, especially without his handlers telling him what to do, when to do it and how to do it.

He needs someone to turn the wind-up key in his back to get him to function.

Yes. The rule about five p.m. is because he eats dinner every night with his children. He won't work late at night. I do not understand that rule only because he is the leader of the free world.

How many American fathers work long hours providing for their families? How many of them do not have the luxury of being home at an early hour?

Obama uses his daughters as an excuse to explain away his laziness, in my opinion.
