They can argue that point all they want to but one look at his picture shows he was mentally ill. He has the same type of issues it seems as the other recent mass murderers. His behaviors apparently escalated and that is why the mother was looking for solutions. I have been a case manager for the severely mentally ill. This age group often falls through the cracks because they are legally adults and haven't had a chance to be declared incompetent. They aren't capable of taking care of themselves but the law has the parents' hands tied.
