ZitatThe Vietnam War still hasn’t ended for some viewers of the CBS reality show “The Amazing Race,” to judge by responses to an episode that took competitors to Hanoi. But did the show’s producers really do anything offensive?
The long-running, award-winning show is now airing its 22nd season. Like others, it started with a pack of two-person teams that is gradually whittled down through a series of globe-trotting challenges. This season’s cast includes Chuck and Wynona McCall of Daphne as well as Anthony Battaglia, a hockey player with the Huntsville Havoc.
During Sunday night’s episode, only a few seconds elapsed between the time Hanoi was announced as the setting and the time a commenter on Twitter wondered whether Jane Fonda would be featured. (Note: The entire episode can be seen online at www.cbs.com.)
Several aspects of the episode bothered some of the viewers chiming on Twitter. For some, the very location was a problem. In order to get a clue, the competitors had to sit through a rather corny musical skit celebrating the glories of communism. Hokey as it was, some thought it shouldn’t have been aired at all. Finally, the teams had to pass by a waypoint located at a war monument built around a downed American B-52. The monument wasn’t actually involved in the game, except as a landmark, but a few Twitter commenters objected strongly to its use as a backdrop.
What do you think? Did the show’s producers and CBS cross a line?
I don't watch the show, but I find using the wreckage of a U.S airplane downed during a war, on which American servicemenr died, tasteless. Ditto the "If I Only Had a Brain" musical paen to Communism. However, it's nothing new. TV after 'Nam was full of stories and plotlines about deranged, psychotic and doperd up Vets. Had to justify the courage and rightness of all those draft dodgers. 'Cause how could one serve in an evil war and come back normal.
So TV not caring is nothing new. Neither is being concerned with, or caring about Viet Vets.

I don't watch this show, but I heard about it on "The Five" yesterday. Beckel (who I rarely agree with, but apparently is an "old school" Leftist) was as angry and as animated as I've ever seen him. And I must give him credit for that.
I can't see any of the current Statists and Leftists that surround The King and that are currently running the country caring about it. Hell, I don't think Obama even mentioned the marines that were killed this week training in Nevada.
Except to have his hand puppet Reid blame republicans for their deaths.
