I've been wondering what the policy is here, should we be posting excerpts (or links only in some cases), or can we feel free to post the full content here since this is a closed, private site?
Do you have any guidance for us on that front, Justme?
If we remain "private" I suspect that we would be safe from any copyright infringement hassles resulting in posting full content. But I think a problem can arise from posting active links as our current location (this forum) is available in weblogs (HTTP Referrer) at the sites that we directly link to. If we post the source link as text, then someone can copy it and paste in a new tab/window to check out the original articles. (BTW, I've made it a habit to copy and paste the URL of almost any site I go to into a new tab/window that is currently loaded with a "neutral" location (e.g., StartPage landing page) or no location at all (empty). Just my little effort * in reducing the trail from one site to another.)
I've been posting mostly excerpts for all of the threads that I start in an attempt to avoid any hassles for us here, but I realize that it is a lot more comfortable at times to just read the content here.
Please advise.
Thanks in advance!
(If I've missed previously posted guidance on this, just direct me to the place to look, thanks!)
* - If you call me paranoid, I'll ask "How did you know?"
Here's my two-cent's worth: since you can see posts if you know the URL, it would be better to follow the normal rules of excerpting so as to not create unnecessary problems.

When lawyers are an issue, nothing is "closed and private". Posting full articles would still be copyright violations and illegal. All it takes is one disgruntled member, such as Shep, to stir up trouble by reporting the violations.
Better safe than sorry. Jim Robinson ended up paying out lots of monney in legal fees and judgments against him for having full articles on FR.
If people don't like leaving the page to read an article there are browser extensions that allow you to preview the link. Cool Links on Firefox works great as does ez Link Preview on Chrome.
