Maybe we should order background checks on people so they’re legally allowed to own such vicious animals. And why didn’t Mark Kelly keep better control of this animal? Why does someone need such a big dog? Is he trying to prove how manly he is or something? How many more sea lions must die?!?!
Gabrielle Giffords’ husband pulled his daughter’s dog off of a sea lion in Laguna Beach over the weekend.
The incident, which was captured on video, happened around 1:40 p.m. Saturday at Goff Cove Beach by the Montage Laguna Beach.
Retired astronaut Mark Kelly’s 18-year-old daughter, who was on vacation with her father and Giffords, was walking the American bulldog on a leash when the 65-pound dog saw the sea lion, ran off and attacked.
…
Police said the Kelly family did nothing wrong and no one will face any charges.
Nathan hopes the video will serve as a reminder to pet owners that things can quickly go awry with an overpowering dog.
“If you have a dog of that stature and that power, they should be accompanied by someone who can handle a dog that is as powerful as an American bulldog,” he said.
They should probably institute a waiting period before someone demonstrates they can capably handle the dog.
UPDATE: Upon closer inspection, the seal is still alive while Brave Mark Kelly, keeping his head down, skulks off dragging his family pet leaving his daughter in tears behind. You can see the seal, still bleeding, move it’s flipper as it dies and Mark steps past it to get off the beach before he is recognized. What a hero that Mark Kelly is. And it appears the whole posse of baby seal murderers is with Mark Kelly’s crew. They all simply leave the dying seal to be washed helplessly out to seal following brave Mark NGO Kelly off the beach before the other beach-goers realize who they are. They all just saunter off as if nothing happened while the dying baby seal is dragged out by the surf.CLICK
