Canadian girl, 17, dies following suicide attempt after family says she was raped by 4 boys and relentlessly bullied
A 17-year-old Canadian girl died Sunday, days after she attempted suicide following two years of what her mother described as near-constant bullying by classmates.
"Rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. I do not add 'within the limits of the law' because law is often but the tyrant's will, and always so when it violates the rights of the individual." Thomas Jefferson

They did move.
The girl could not get over the violation, public exposure and bullying. Anonymous people on the internet had targeted her.
I cannot imagine how frightened she must have felt.
May she rest in peace.
Orthodoxy SUCKS.

Not that I don't feel awful for the girl and her mother but in my day when a kid behaved that way the reaction was similar. Don't be stupid and you won't have to live down the shame later.
The assumption it was teasing and other peoples fault rather than her inability to cope with what she did is a cop out imo.

They did move but it didn't save her:
ZitatMeanwhile, at school and online, the taunting didn’t stop, and eventually the family moved from Cole Harbour to Halifax.
The trauma of what happened followed the girl, however, and Parsons was shadowed by what her mother called “depression and anger” over her being ostracized and bullied.

I don't agree. A 15 year-old who had been gang-raped may not have what it takes to deal with something like that, particularly if she is being targeted by evil types afterward. And, it may be that her family was not able to support and defend her to the extent that she needed.
And, remember - unlike when we were growing up, you can't get away from anything now. Your record/history follows you wherever you go. And, even not getting on the internet wouldn't have done any good, because she was apparently targeted by other evil types who did go on to the internet to find out what had happened to her.
And, yes, I'm using the word evil very deliberately.

When I was growing up and the drunk girl did a couple of guys is wasn't called gang rape and I'm not sure it should be now.
I'm watching HSL waiting for the trial and the are calling it "slut shaming" Talk about a mixed message. So the girl is a slut, but teasing her is the crime? A bunch of drunk kids and the boys are criminals? There was a boat load of "slut shaming" in my youth and it was awful. But I still think how to not become a victim of yourself and others is the lost message.
We now are a society of victims, but in order for that to be the case we have to make villains where they don't necessarily exist. Sh*t for brains boys have always existed, young girls who aren't taught or ignore the common sense to avoid ugly situations is lost today. Remember this case they found no concrete evident to call it rape. Just because a girl regrets her actions doesn't make it rape. And I am not excusing the boys...they are garbage.
