I know this thread will soon be inundated with my fellow RR members expressing heart felt appreciation to Republican Senators for standing-up on behalf of our sacred 2nd amendment rights!
And, I know I won't be the first but, nonetheless, let me hasten to say HOORAY FOR THE GOP!
The proposal, named for Sens. Joe Manchin (D-W. Va.) and Patrick Toomey (R-Pa.), would have expanded existing background checks on gun buyers to cover firearms sold at gun shows and via the Internet.
Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid voted against the proposal. He was joined by Democrat Sens. Baucus, Begich, Heitkamp, Pryor.
“Reid voted no for procedural reasons,” CBS News’ Major Garrett explains. “As Majority Leader, a ‘no’ vote allows him to bring the amendment up again.”
Arizona Republican John McCain voted in favor of the bill. He was joined by Republican Sens. Collins, Kirk, and Toomey.

Well, Magoo, we can't get 'em all on every vote.
Maybe next time we'll get Senator Kirk to join us on the side of the angels!
This isn't over. That was one of about 13 amendments that were to the base bill. They have voted on 4 or 5. Still more to go and then S. 649 needs to go down in flames.
What?
