Just as I said they would do and claim this is why we need Immigration Reform--Political hacks are predictable
Via TPM:
Sens. John McCain (R-AZ) and Lindsey Graham (R-SC) said in a statement on Friday that the Boston bombing should not be used in order to slow or halt immigration reform efforts.
“In the wake of this week’s terrorist attack in Boston, some have already suggested that the circumstances of this terrible tragedy are justification for delaying or stopping entirely the effort for comprehensive immigration reform,” the statement reads. “In fact the opposite is true: Immigration reform will strengthen our nation’s security by helping us identify exactly who has entered our country and who has left – a basic function of government that our broken immigration system is incapable of accomplishing today. The status quo is unacceptable. We have 11 million people living in the shadows, which leaves this nation vulnerable to a myriad of threats. That is all the more reason why comprehensive immigration reform is so essential. By modernizing our system of legal immigration, identifying and conducting background checks on people here illegally, and finally securing our border, we will make America more secure.”
Zitat: Delaying Immigration Reform Because Of Boston Terror Attack Is Wrong…

So? What is the problem? .
eta: The linked article claims Rubio made similar remarks. Not true. Rubio said not to leave politics out of this.

They certainly wouldn't have put out this statement if they weren't worried.

This terrorist in Boston wasn't living in the shadows you wrinkled old bastard. He was living on one of the ineffective, rubber stamp visas that you want to give to drug lords, slave traders and pimps from Mexico. No thanks. Your dream of amnesty died with the death of subject #1 last night.

Whatever the arguments were for immigration reform, the truth is it relies on the fedgov that let these terrorists in and FBI that blew (another) chance to get rid of them.
What suggests they will improve their performance with new policies?

Long string of the FBI blowing it. Even before 9/11,
I have been interviewed by the FBI for various security back round checks for both myself, family and friends going back many years. The first one was by two very smart guys that were very good at their job. Over the years the quality of agents has steadily gone down. Clinton (Cedric's not favorite guy) moved it to National Agency Check with Law and Credit (NACLC) which did an interview with me for someone to get a Yankee White clearance. Can't go into it since the process is classified but let's say TSA comes off as more professional.
What?
