Last night, I watched the amateur home video of the shootout between Boston and Watertown police and the person referred to as "Suspect #1."

I learned that there were something on the order of 200 shots fired during that firefight.

Think about that for just a moment. It took a dozen or more cops, who are trained professionals, who practice on at least a weekly basis with their firearms, to fire 200 rounds before he finally died.

First, cops do not practice weekly. Most only shoot 100 rounds once or twice a year to qualify.

Second, typlcally I am very critical of police markmanship. Taking guns away from cops would save more cops lives than any other single item due to friendly fire. That said I am hell on wheels at shooting anything that is not shooting back. The first time someone shot back at me my marksmanship suffered some, I still won that gunfight and a few after that - moslty due to superior training. In this case the cops were clearly scared and somewhat reckless. Very lucky that police fire didn't injury or kill innocents.

There is a report from a witness that says that the cops repeatedly shot him while he was on the ground and then ran over him with a "police" SUV. The ER Doc is saying "hard to tell which of many perferations killed him".

In this story I am not believing anything the authorities are saying. I saw the Watertown COP interviewed last night on CNN -I think- he put out a completely unbelievable time line.

On second thought, I will just stop posting on the subject. It's my lone position that these two are not the bombers therefore all the news, reports and discussions are in vein. I think I might win the RR nut of the week , but that's kewl
