My recollection is that the Massachusetts General Court changed the rules so that Mitt couldn't appoint a Republican in 2004. Then they changed the rules in 2009 after Teddy passed away.

It's hard to imagine them not changing the rules so that Patrick can appoint anyone he wants again.

So the point might be moot anyway.

Though I think it will be a wasted effort as far as the nomination goes, I hope they do if for no other reason to honor the service of those whom this creep slandered.
