The Senate’s complex immigration bill would instantly gut the popular E-Verify system that is widely used to exclude illegal immigrants from jobs, and then create an enforcement gap for several years before the arrival of a replacement system.

What baffles me is how the GOP allowed so many of their "moderates" on the committee. And also why Arizona has two representatives on the committee, while both California and Texas have none.
For me the latter fact alone negates any credibility for the product of the committee's proceedings.
