911 Dispatcher Tells Woman About To Be Sexually Assaulted There Are No Cops To Help Her Due To Budget Cuts
ZitatAn Oregon woman was told by a 911 dispatcher that authorities wouldn’t be able be able to help her as her ex-boyfriend broke into her place because of budget cuts.
Oregon Public Radio reports that an unidentified woman called 911 during a weekend in August 2012 while Michael Bellah was breaking into her place. Her call was forwarded to Oregon State Police because of lay-offs at the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office only allows the department to be open Monday through Friday.
“Uh, I don’t have anybody to send out there,” the 911 dispatcher told the woman. “You know, obviously, if he comes inside the residence and assaults you, can you ask him to go away? Do you know if he’s intoxicated or anything?”
ZitatPolice say Bellah choked the woman and sexually assaulted her. He was arrested by Oregon State Police following the incident.

The Supreme Court ruled on Monday that the police did not have a constitutional duty to protect a person from harm, even a woman who had obtained a court-issued protective order against a violent husband making an arrest mandatory for a violation.
"Rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. I do not add 'within the limits of the law' because law is often but the tyrant's will, and always so when it violates the rights of the individual." Thomas Jefferson

That being true, and imo a right decision. It has nothing really to do with the smart ass dispatcher. It sounds as if they hung up before the attack, which makes the dispatcher and the caller not too bright. I could be wrong about that though
It used to be that you could say something like "I own a gun because cops are too heavy to carry around, and they are always wanting to stop at donut shops".
Now there ain't no cops to carry even if you're strong enough to carry one.
Why is democracy held in such high esteem when it’s the enemy of the minority and makes all rights relative to the dictates of the majority? (Ron Paul,2012)

Yup. THANKS for reminding us. It's a easy thing to forget.
Wasn't that about the time the cops started taking "to serve and protect" off their car doors and started saying,"The most important thing is Officer Safety"?

What was the dispatcher supposed to do,send somebody she didn't have to send?
AND.....,if she hadn't hung up,the womans phone line would have been busy and she wouldn't have been able to call the state police.

"I'm on the phone with the police" is usually a deterent
I went back and found a link. The article is misleading. It was the State because the county forwarded the call and even though there were no officers for the state to send it was due to the county cuts and the low taxes they enjoy. The dispatcher at no time mentioned cuts.
