A couple of observations here:

The "powers that be" (PTB for short) ALWAYS get what they want. Going all the way back to the late 70s, they WANTED the Panama Canal Treaty. No one else in flyover country did. They GOT the Panama Canal Treaty.

In the 90s, they wanted NAFTA. No one else (even powerful labor unions) wanted it. They GOT Nafta.

Now, the PTBs WANT open borders and the country overrun with illegals. No one else does, but it doesn't matter. The simple fact of the matter is: The PTBs WANT open borders, so open borders we shall have.

Just like Obamacare (also which no one wanted). There was no level of corruption that the PTBs wouldn't stoop to, to get it passed and in force. Up to and including the corruption of a SCOTUS chief justice.

So, if a Supreme Courts justice can be "bought", why not a mere junior Senator from Florida?

In reality, we would have a hard time sending over eleven million Mexicans back across the border. Some of them have been here since birth and the United State lawmakers let it happen.
Now, we're being flooded with illegals and need to do something about it, but Rubio's way is not the best way to do it.

Our borders will still be wide open and we will be flooded with more illegals. This administration will not do anything about our borders and Rubio knows they won't, but he still goes right along with Shummer and the other democrats.

He has done an about face, the same thing that happened to John Roberts... he is working against the people that sent him to the senate and working with the career politicians that only want eleven million more votes.

Remove all the big government financial incentives and they will self deport, just like they self imported. Keep families intact and let those who came here young return with their parents.

Back during the great depression, Herbert Hoover ordered the deportation of ALL illegal aliens in order to make jobs available to American citizens that desperately needed work.

Harry Truman deported over two million illegal aliens after WWII to create jobs for returning veterans.

In 1954 Dwight Eisenhower deported 13 million Mexicans. The program was called Operation Wetback. It was done so WWII and Korean veterans would have a better chance at jobs. It took two years, but they deported them!

Note: 11 million is the government's number. It is about as accurate as the government's unemployment, inflation, and GDP figures. The real number of illegals is minimally 30 - 40 million, approximately 40 % of whom are visa overstays.

Neither the debt problem nor unemployment will be solved as long as illegals are given free reign.
