Sne. Frank Lautenberg died this morning of viral pneumonia at age 89, his office said.
The oldest member of the Senate, Lautenberg had struggled with health problems since late last year, when he missed several weeks of votes because of what he said was flu and bronchitis.
The death of Lautenberg, a Democrat who was the longest-serving senator in New Jersey history, creates a vacancy that Governor Christie, a Republican, will fill.
If Lautenberg was a Republican the lib ghouls would be dancing on his grave.

Yeah, I'd be truly surprised if he appointed a Dem (let's all hope that I am not surprised in this regard!). It will be a machine Republican no doubt, but at least it will be one more R in the column and one less D -- helps the effort for 2014 to try to swing the Senate to the R side. (Have to see the bright side in things!)

Good luck with that. He'll appoint a republicrat aka democran with a -R designation.
I'm trying to see the "bright side" in this! Stop it!!!
Zitat(I think that it is "good" that he is apparently a shoe-in for re-election, otherwise appointing a D would not be a bridge too far for this clown.)
Again IMHO, "the bright side" is that the senator some referred to as 'the cadaver' has become one.

No question about that! Christie is very good at reaching, perhaps that ought to be rolling, across the aisle.

No. There are no actual Republicans living in NJ.
Nor are there any willing to move there.

After all these years, the old SOB has finally performed a service for his country.
