White House Press Secretary Jay Carney is declining to respond to a Republican's claim that he is a "paid liar" for President Obama, but others are denouncing the phrase -- including some other Republicans.
"Let's not make it a personal," said Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., on Fox News Radio, responding to the "liar" charge made by Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., over the Internal Revenue Service targeting of conservative groups.
"Rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. I do not add 'within the limits of the law' because law is often but the tyrant's will, and always so when it violates the rights of the individual." Thomas Jefferson

For example, pointing out that Graham is a funny looking little dork who kisses liberal butt would be getting personal.
Re: Lindsey, I think you're more on target than you may have intended.

Good point.
Putting an obviously partisan political organization (IRS) in charge of people's healthcare.............now that's getting personal.
Pointing out somebody's lying is just that....putting the facts out there. If that's personal, its only because the person got caught distorting those facts. That's not personal, its informing people of the truth.
If people can't see the difference, "Good gawd people are stupid"....is putting it mildly.
