From my (rather vast) experience, Central American illegal aliens who are here have no intention of "colonizing" the US and would gladly go back home if their home countries didn't suck so bad, compared to the USA.
Research Aztlan and Reconquista if you haven't aleady and see what you make of it.
I'm a senior citizen, native Californian. I'm not worried about Aztlan or Reconquista. Those are radical fringe movements for universities.
I am still in touch with Hispanic men that I went to early elementary school with. They are grandfathers, and their families are fully assimilated.
Just like my wife's Italian family.
Are you from either Texas or California? Those places got a lot of Hispanic people going back 200+ years. Just as American as me.
But, we're not talking about Americans with hispanic last names. I'm not worried about them any more than they're worried about me. It's the flood of unassimilated and increasing unassimilatble illegals that are the problem.

The only thing I may differ with you about, t_s, is that I do not think the Central Americans are currently assimilating like other ethnic groups have in the past.
Drive between Beach Blvd. and Gothard on Slater and tell me if that looks and sounds like assimilation to you.

Absolutely.
I have had the privilege of the friendship of many patriotic Americans who are of Mexican descent.
I love them. I love the Tejano music, their Tex-Mex food and their culture.
And I condemn anyone who slurs these Americans as quickly as I condemn those fringers who suggest that America's black population is a curse and should have been sent to Liberia.
But we're not talking about patriotic Americans of Latin heritage here.
Politics: A game invented by the unscrupulous... And perpetrated upon the gullible.

What many seem unaware of is that of late the nature of most of those coming here both legally and illegally, and of those overstaying visas have changed. Most no longer come to take advantage of freedom and meritocracy but our generous safety net. After all our big government gives out much better bennies than the one they left. Illegal aliens and legal immignants cost US tax payers NET hundred of billions per year.
In our Politically Correct time, the flood of unassimilated and unassimilatable legals and illegals are one method being used to replace our traditional culture and ethics.
