Police in Baltimore say they are investigating the claims of a witness who apparently saw a group of black youths beat a Hispanic man while screaming, “This is for Trayvon.” The incident reportedly occurred on Sunday.

Real estate agent Christina Dudley posted her account of the incident on Facebook, prompting Baltimore police to investigate whether George Zimmerman’s acquittal played a role in the attack. Sgt. Eric Kowalczyk, a police spokesman, declined to go into further detail.

Dudley said she was walking to her car just before 9 p.m. on Sunday when she saw several black males and two black females chasing a 37-year-old Hispanic man down the street.

“One of the boys had a handgun out and it was pointed at the back of him,” Dudley told the Baltimore Sun.

When the attackers caught the Hispanic man, one of the black males beat him with what appeared to be his gun while the others stomped and kicked him, according to Dudley.

Dudley said she and a woman who was walking her dog told the group to stop beating the man and warned them they were calling 911. The group took off on foot before police arrived. No one has been arrested or named suspects in the case.

Zimmerman, who is Hispanic, was acquitted on all charges in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin on Saturday.

“Everyone in the neighborhood is well aware of the situation, but my concern is that we have a very large Hispanic population and many of them might not have Internet connection or they aren’t on that page…So my concern is trying to get the word out to them,” Dudley said.

Yeah, get out the word. A pack of wild animals are roaming the streets looking for a kill.
