“This cynical ad betrays the depths Obamacare advocates will sink to in order to pad their pathetic enrollment numbers,” Log Cabin Republicans Executive Director Gregory T. Angelo said in a statement.
“This ad is also an example of the left promoting harmful stereotypes that gay men are nothing more than sex-crazed lechers.”
That sums it up pretty well. Imagine if some subgroup of the NAACP had made a video of black youths carjacking, welfare-frauding and knockout-gaming their way into an Obamacare navigator’s office, and you’d be pretty close to how this video of nancy boys prancing around in gay apparel would come off as a depiction of the homosexual community.
And the Log Cabin Republicans think it’s disgusting.
“If anyone on the right made such a comparison, liberals would be apoplectic,” Angelo said in the statement. “At a time when left-wing propagandists are decrying Duck Dynasty‘s Phil Robertson for equating homosexuality with promiscuity and deviance, Out2Enroll and others should take a look in the mirror and ask if the truth is that they are the ones responsible for promoting such harmful stereotypes.......
You can see the video. A word of warning, though, it’s not for the faint of heart. The song is a bastardized version of “Let It Snow,” but it might as well have been “Let It Show.”
If you don’t want to watch now, don’t worry. It might be on A&E in 2014. LINK
There are gay people and there are straight people. There are serious people and there are exhibitionists. The gay guys in the commercial are basically gay versions of Miley Cyrus.
A well dressed lesbian or gay man discussing a serious issue in a serious manner will be respected. Nobody, gay or straight, prancing around 90% naked will be taken seriously. As one gay man noted, “Neither Rosa Parks nor Martin Luther King ever advanced their cause by dancing in a Black Pride parade float in their underwear.”
Sometimes, I wonder if the Democratic Party pushes the depiction of freak show gays just to elicit a gut reaction of disgust among conservative Republicans against all gays. As far as I am concerned, if a gay or a lesbian agrees with me on political issues, I want that person as a political ally. I may or may not agree that Sarah Palin was a good VP choice but my opinion had absolutely nothing to do with whether or not she was up on stage at the GOP Convention with her unmarried daughter, her daughter’s unmarried lover and an “out of wedlock” grandchild ….. Something that would have had everybody in the 1955 Bible Belt absolutely horrified.
Times have changed. The younger generations today do not automatically reject gays anymore. The Bible Belt conservatives today do not automatically reject a VP candidate that does not hide what the 1955 Bible Belt would have called her “sinful and shameless” daughter and her “bastard grandchild” but, instead, proudly shows them off on national TV at the GOP Convention. Times have certainly changed.
With Presidential elections getting so close, no vote can be wasted. It is time to accept our gay political allies. The serious ones, in serious clothes who share our political views ……. Not the gays gyrating in thongs and spouting Left-wing talking points. Those can be left to the Democrats.
