The Senate confirmed Tom Perez as Labor secretary on a 54-46 vote Thursday, making him the second of President Barack Obama’s nominees to win confirmation this week following a deal to preserve the filibuster.
Perez won cloture Wednesday on a 60-40 vote, with six Republicans joining 52 Democrats and two independents. His confirmation required only a majority of 51 votes.
After squeaking through a cloture vote, 60-40, on Wednesday, Thomas Perez was confirmed as labor secretary Thursday by a 54-46 party line vote. Senate Republicans really don't like this guy.... The Perez vote was the closest of any of President Obama's second-term Cabinet nominees.
They're angry over at Daily KOS........so that's good!
While the Senate Rs held firm with a party line vote against the confirmation, these six quislings (no surprises at who they are) voted with the rats on cloture (On the Cloture Motion (Motion to Invoke Cloture on the Nomination of Thomas Edward Perez, of Maryland, to be Secretary of Labor)):
Alexander (R-TN)
Collins (R-ME)
Corker (R-TN)
Kirk (R-IL)
McCain (R-AZ)
Murkowski (R-AK)
Just wait to see the destruction of the economy that unfolds as a result of this monster's confirmation.

Rather sneaky. Vote for cloture knowing the confirmation will pass even without their votes. Then vote against confirmation so they can crow about what great pols they are.

Looks like all we need is 6 more conservative Republican Senators and we'll be all set!
Should be able to take care of that in next year's election.
