I watched the PBS special on the dust bowl. It was very good. The type of tilling being used was responsible for the conditions that led to the winds blowing away the top soil.
They quoted an Indian who remarked upon seeing how they had turned the soil to plant their crops.
"The soil is upside down" he said.
That about sums up our new culture, doesn't it? The violent are coddled and trangressors fed inaccurate "causes" for their evil ways that lead nowhere. So in the end, even the evil doers are victims.
The Chicago culture is upside down.
