Considering both the participants here are black watching the gut-wrenching national conversation over race should be fun. Over to you, Barack Obama!
Zitat ESPN host and former Jets star Hugh Douglas shouted racial slurs and threatened to flatten a colleague during an ugly confrontation in Florida over the weekend.
A drunken Douglas called his “Numbers Never Lie” co-host Michael Smith an “Uncle Tom” and a “House N—–” at the House of Blues in Orlando Friday night, where they had been attending an event hosted by the National Association of Black Journalists, according to The Big Lead sports Web site.
“We are looking at the this incident internally,” an ESPN rep said today, declining any further comment.
The 6-foot-2, 280-pound Douglas — honored as AP’s 1995 Defensive Player of the Year — reportedly grabbed Smith’s arm and the two colleagues had to be separated by security and others in attendance.
Douglas, drafted in the first round by Gang Green, was pulled aside by another ESPN staffer and quickly left the party.
"He’ll soon be “former ESPN analyst Hugh Douglas.”
Not to worry. He can always find a job at BET or Oprah's network.
Why is democracy held in such high esteem when it’s the enemy of the minority and makes all rights relative to the dictates of the majority? (Ron Paul,2012)
That channel became unwatchable long ago. Thankfully the major sports have their own channels like MLB Channel and NFL Network! That's where I get my daily fixes!
