Seattle police blame an East African gang for a string of armed robberies in the last week.

The East African gang is said to be driving a green Toyota Camry.
KOMO News reported:

Seattle police are on the hunt for a group of brazen armed robbers who have targeted 10 people in the last week.

The first robbery happened last Wednesday just after 9 a.m. Police say group of six men cornered a teenager in an alley behind the Beacon Hill library and robbed him of his backpack, phone and bank cards.

Early the next morning, a car full of men drove up to a woman near 56th and Latona and demanded the woman’s purse, according to police. When the woman refused, police say the robbers got out of the car, flashed a gun and took her purse.

Later that night, police say the same group of robbers pulled a knife on a delivery driver in Holly Park and stole four pizzas. Just a half hour later they struck again in West Seattle, robbing a man of his iPhone in the 5500 block of 16th Avenue SW.

In the early hours of August 2, the robbers grabbed a 28-year-old man near Harvard Avenue and East Thomas on Capitol Hill. They put the man in a headlock and stole his iPhone and wallet, according to police…

…Detectives believe the same group snatched a woman’s purse near Senaca and Broadway at about 3:45 a.m. on August 4.

Police have not released detailed descriptions of the robbers, but say they may be East African or Somali and may be driving a green Toyota Camry.
