The remote-control drones purchased by Seattle police will not be used "so that SPD can focus its resources on public safety and the community building work that is the department's priority," Mayor Mike McGinn said Thursday.
The drones – about the size of a large model airplane with mounted cameras – were especially unpopular when displayed at public meetings and drew complaints from the American Civil Liberties Union and other groups. An ACLU spokesman said Thursday he was pleased.
"Rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. I do not add 'within the limits of the law' because law is often but the tyrant's will, and always so when it violates the rights of the individual." Thomas Jefferson
The Drone backlash is going to be deep and wide. The military playing this game overseas is one thing, but police using them domestically is a violation of everyone's privacy. No one is going to put up with it.

Wouldn't surprise me if they had the technology to see right through buildings.
They are weapons of war ........what are they doing in our skies ??
This is an area, if everyone plays their cards honestly, that the "left" and "right" should be able to find common ground in the Bill of Rights to fight back this tyranny. It will be interesting to watch it play out.
