San Diego Mayor Bob Filner’s chief of staff confirmed to 10News that the mayor began his therapy a week early and has already completed the program.

On Friday afternoon, Chief of Staff Lee Burdick told 10News reporter Allison Ash that Filner began his two weeks of “intensive” therapy one week earlier due to “intense media coverage.”

In a press conference in late July, Filner said he would begin his two-week therapy session on August 5.

He was originally scheduled to come back to work August 19, but Filner is reportedly coming back to San Diego Friday.

“The Mayor is really frisky and plans on grabbing a lot of ass this weekend,” Burdick remarked.

The SRI website says the two-week program is “focused on helping our patients identify and eliminate all sexual acting out behavior and develop the tools needed to prevent sexual relapse.” A list of problems the course is designed to treat includes “Professional / Workplace Sexual Misconduct.”

A sample schedule indicates that most days begin at 9:30am with “check-in and accountability.” At 10:15am there is a lecture on various topics related to sexual addiction such as “The Reality of Sexual Addiction.” Next comes lunch and a support group which lasts until 2:15pm. This is followed by an hour of individual therapy. Another lecture goes until 4:30pm and there is one more hour of individual therapy from 5-6pm.

As a nice parting gift, good friend Barbara Boxer, recently awoken from a weeks-long coma, has said it’s time for Filner to go. What a bold, courageous call on her part, considering she looked the other way all these years. Oh, and did we mention another victim came forward Thursday? If you’re still keeping score, we’re up to 14 now.

Stacy said she then told two staff members — both law enforcement officers — about her encounter with Filner when he came from behind her.

“With his right arm, he put it around my neck and I called it at that point a chokehold. I know it’s the Filner headlock. With his left arm, he put it around my left arm and he clamped it on,” Stacy said. “I was basically encased in his grip.”

In front of the two other women in uniform, Filner said that he likes to get “really close to my city employees.”

At the time, Stacy was hoping his actions were a momentary lapse of judgment. Like others, she did not say anything in fear for her job and the fact that she is a single parent with two children.
