New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) told his party’s leaders Thursday that they need to stop worrying about philosophical debates and focus on winning elections — a potential preview of his argument for why he should earn their presidential nomination in 2016.
“For our ideas to matter, we have to win,” Christie said in a speech to the Republican National Committee in Boston, according to a person at the closed-door speech. “Because if we don’t win, we don’t govern. And if we don’t govern, all we do is shout to the wind. And so I am going to do anything I need to do to win.”
Christie also appeared to create some distance between himself and another potential GOP presidential candidate, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal.
"Rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. I do not add 'within the limits of the law' because law is often but the tyrant's will, and always so when it violates the rights of the individual." Thomas Jefferson
"If people can’t trust not only the executive branch but also don’t trust Congress, and don’t trust federal judges, to make sure that we’re abiding by the Constitution with due process and rule of law, then we’re going to have some problems here." - Barack Obama, June 7, 2013
We have a party full of "principled conservatives" who have zero effect because they never win. We also have a party full of GOP-e types who follow the GOP-e playbook thinking it's the secret playbook to win elections, and we all know how that turned out.
We have a party full of people who don't take responsibilities for their failures. Both the "principled conservative" and the "GOP-e" set. Each blames the other when they fail (which they both often do).
The party and the movement is still in a civil war, and probably will be a secondary party until the infighting stops.
The prescription for success: the GOP needs people who can connect with regular people on an emotional, gut level. The Democrats are currently better than the GOP at this.
And I don't know about anyone else, but as for me - I'm getting a little sick and tired of these media darlings like Chrispie Creme and McClown trashing other republicans.
They're media darlings BECAUSE they trash conservatives. No other reason.
When the hell are they going to learn this? Or maybe they DO know it, and they don't give a damn.

Just make sure you keep that bag of goodies coming.
Does Christie want to try to outdo the democrats? Have a bigger bag of goodies, perhaps?
What ideas does he promote that should cause someone to vote republican?
On what basis should "we" win elections?
I've come to the conclusion that the vast majority of the electorate votes on the basis of "likability" above everything else.
If you're going to run a principled conservative, you better make damn sure people like him.
A significant number of voters vote on matters of fashion but I wouldn't discount the number that still think. Romney didn't lose in a McGovern-like blow out. I think a lot of us conservatives have abandoned the old media to the point where we ignore them, which gives them a free reign to pollute the minds of those who would otherwise vote like us.

The problem is that you have no ideas you fat bastard. Your state is still a shambles and all you seem to do is hold your hand out to DC and bash the wing of the party that DOES have real ideas. FU Christie Creme.
