Investigative journalist James O’Keefe seems to have really gotten under the skin of former fed prosecutor and present Tulane Law School Dean Jim Letten.
Letten was the guy behind O’Keefe’s 28-hour incarceration without access to a lawyer after O’Keefe was caught trying to take hidden camera footage in the New Orleans office of Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-La.). He was investigating claims as to whether the Senator was lying when telling angry constituents that her phone system was broken.
During O’Keefe’s incarceration Letten improperly leaked details of the case to the media apparently distorting O’Keefe’s actions. Letten soon recused himself from the case without explanation.
O’Keefe eventually pleaded guilty and was sentence to 3 years probation along with 100 hundred hours community service and a $1,500 fine. He says it was an unjust prosecution. He wrote a book touching on it — to the great displeasure of King Letten — called Breakthrough: Our Guerilla War to Expose Fraud and Save Democracy. It has gotten good reviews and is a best seller.
