While some conservatives supported by the tea party have been making shutdown threats, Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky said Monday that was "a dumb idea." At a community meeting in Louisville, he said, "We should fight for what we believe in and then maybe we find something in between the two. ... I am for the debate, I am for fighting. I don't want to shut the government down, though. I think that's a bad solution."

Okay, let me explain it one more time.

The GOP led House passes a CR, defunding Obamacare and sends it to the Senate.

The Democrat controlled Senate takes the House's bill and puts Obamacare funding back in and then sends it back to the House.

If the House doesn't capitulate by October 1, the entire federal government shuts down for lack of funding.

The GOP will be blamed and it will suffer accordingly in next year's elections.

Here is the problem with that. Even though this thing won't be rolled out to the public, the massive machinery will still be funded and built inside an already massive govt'. As soon as someones guard is down or the Rats run all level of govt' again, this thing will be ready to go. Just like with the Dept of Ed, once a thing is built, it doesn't go away.

There is no difference, votes wise, between Defunding and Delaying. They both end in a showdown with the WH. If you didn't notice, the Regime just told the Unions to go to hell when they asked for Zerocare waivers. What do you think they are going to say about waivers for everyone when the GOP slips it into the CR?

If we are going to fight and risk a shutdown, lets get behind something that has a real payoff when the battle is over. Delaying only kicks the can down the road.
